In addition to direct services, the Division is involved in clinical and behavioral research and capacity building efforts to improve outcomes for youth.  Highlights include:

The Adolescent HIV/AIDS Trials Network (ATN), a multicenter research network funded by the National Institutes of Health to explore promising behavioral and therapeutic interventions for HIV-infected and HIV at-risk adolescents, age 12 through 24. As part of the ATN, the Division is working with community partners in Los Angeles to reduce HIV transmission and acquisition of HIV.

The Substance Abuse and HIV Intervention Project (SHIP), a multi-agency project funded to implement substance abuse and HIV prevention interventions targeting homeless youth of color ages 18 – 24 in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The Community Trauma Treatment Center for Homeless Youth , established in collaboration with the agencies of the Hollywood Homeless Youth Partnership and part of the SAMHSA’s National Child Traumatic Stress Network, this Center seeks to help homeless youth leave the streets and achieve stability through an improved understanding of the impact of trauma on these young people.
